What are the requirements for the selection of lightning arresters for antenna feeders?

1) The outdoor antenna should be placed in the direct lightning protection zone (LPZ0B), which means that the antenna should not stand at the highest point to avoid being hit by direct lightning.

2) According to the operating frequency, average output power, connector form, characteristic impedance and other parameters of the protected equipment, the suitable antenna-feeder line lightning arrester should be selected with small insertion loss and small voltage standing wave ratio.
The selection of the antenna-feeder arrester first needs to meet the working frequency range, and then select the appropriate antenna-feeder arrester after determining the interface form of the feeder and equipment.

3) The installation position of the lightning protection device of the antenna feeder: it should be installed at the radio frequency outlet and human port of the transceiver/transmitting communication equipment. Its parameters shall comply with the provisions in Table 5.4.5 of GB 50343-2012.

4) For the antenna feeder transmission system with multiple antennas, each antenna should be equipped with a suitable antenna feeder lightning arrester. When the antenna transmission system adopts a waveguide for transmission, the metal outer wall of the waveguide should be in electrical communication with the antenna frame, the waveguide support frame and the antenna reflector, and its grounding end should be connected to the equipotential grounding terminal board.

5) The grounding end of the lightning arrester of the antenna feeder should be connected to the equipotential grounding terminal board at the boundary between LPZ0A or LPZ0B and LPZ1 by using a multi-strand insulated copper wire capable of carrying the expected lightning current, and the cross-sectional area of ​​the wire should not be less than 6mm coaxial cable The metal shielding layer should be grounded nearby the front and rear ends of the equipment and before entering the equipment room.
