There is only one type of monitoring equipment that does not need lightning protection, that is, the cameras are all installed indoors, including the power cords that are not from outdoors, such as buried cables, and the cameras themselves do not have lightning protection functions. It can also be installed. If it is a surveillance camera installed outdoors, it is recommended to install a lightning protector. The camera has signal lines and power lines, so choose a two-in-one lightning protector. If there is still a control line, choose a three-in-one lightning arrester.
If there is an outdoor unit, in addition to the lightning arrester installed on the outdoor unit, the indoor equipment should also be installed on the road, not just the power supply part, but the most vulnerable part is the data cable and the video cable. Because lightning (including induced voltage) will be transmitted to the host;
1. The lightning protection of the camera is only voltage clamping. According to the manufacturer, it is called precise lightning protection, and power attenuation cannot be achieved. The principle is the concept of level 3 lightning protection;
2. The lightning protection of monitoring is mainly anti-induction lightning protection. Almost all lightning protection devices in this industry are produced according to this idea. If it is an open and independent column, my engineering experience is that the lightning strike loss without a lightning rod is better than that with a lightning rod, but the ground connection cables of the gimbal and the decoding box should be thick and anti-corrosion. The smaller the grounding resistance of the column, the better, and the grounding lead of the equipment should be properly connected to the ground. Experience comes from cell phones, PHS base station antennas and ship antennas, computer network antennas and road monitoring.
3. Equipment grounding does not mean lightning protection, although lightning protection equipment must be grounded. The concepts of lightning protection mainly include energy attenuation and voltage clamping; equipotential; strong current and weak current, etc.
Outdoor monitoring lightning arrester is generally installed in the camera control box, you can choose single-phase power supply lightning protection device and network lightning protection device, or two-in-one lightning protection device to protect the equipment.
Whether or not to add a lightning protection device to the control box depends on the expected lightning protection risk and equipment protection requirements. At present, many surveillance cameras are equipped with a power network two-in-one lightning protection device to protect the equipment. When the distance between the control box and the camera is more than 20 meters , then both the camera and the control box should be protected against lightning. For example, the camera head is equipped with a two-in-one lightning protection device for protection, and the control box is separately installed with a power supply and a signal lightning protection device to protect the equipment in the control box (such as switches, optical transceivers, etc.).
If the control waterproof box is on the pole, a set of two-in-one lightning arrester is generally installed in the waterproof box.
